Our engagements Fondation Frapin
Frapin Foundation : Education and Transmission
Since 2017, the Frapin Foundation has supported projects 'sheltered' by Les Apprentis d’Auteuil, a foundation recognized as being of public utility since 1929 and dedicated to helping disadvantaged youth. The Frapin Foundation was born from the desire of Geneviève Cointreau, daughter of Marie Frapin, and was implemented by her children Anne, Jean-Pierre, and Valentine, who wished to convey a message of hope for the future by placing the education of younger generations at the center of their societal commitment.
The Frapin Foundation has just joined the 17 other foundations sheltered by Apprentis d'Auteuil. It aims to contribute to the education and introduction to the professions of French gastronomy. The Frapin Foundation is now the 18th foundation sheltered by Apprentis d'Auteuil, its creation having been approved by the board of directors on December 13, 2016. This new foundation, dedicated to gastronomy, was established by a sibling group eager to support young people and their families in their integration journey. In line with the values and missions of Apprentis d'Auteuil, the Frapin Foundation aims, both in France and internationally, to contribute to the education and introduction to the professions of French gastronomy, as defined by UNESCO. It supports projects aimed at young people and families in difficulty, focusing on their social and professional integration.
A tool for the integration of young people : Gastronomy is, in many ways, conducive to the development and integration of young people in difficulty: it serves as a gateway to promising and future-oriented professions, a means of cohesion and sharing, and also an educational tool for acquiring social skills and interpersonal skills. The restaurant industry, particularly the areas of excellence represented by French gastronomy and cuisine, is a professional field perfectly suited to help young individuals gain confidence, build connections with those around them, and envision the future by valuing their skills and talents.
The French gastronomic meal : Inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2010, the French gastronomic meal is a customary social practice designed to celebrate the most important moments in the lives of individuals and groups, such as births, weddings, anniversaries, successes, and reunions. It is a festive meal during which guests practice the art of 'fine dining' and 'fine drinking.' The gastronomic meal emphasizes being well together, the pleasure of taste, and the harmony between humans and nature's products. Among its important components are : The careful selection of dishes from an ever-expanding repertoire of recipes The purchase of high-quality products, preferably local, whose flavors complement each other well The pairing of food and wine The decoration of the table Specific gestures during tasting (sniffing and tasting what is served at the table). The gastronomic meal must follow a well-defined structure: it begins with an aperitif and ends with a digestif, with at least four courses in between, including an appetizer, fish and/or meat with vegetables, cheese, and dessert. Recognized gastronomes, who possess in-depth knowledge of the tradition and preserve its memory, ensure the lively practice of these rites and contribute to their oral and/or written transmission, particularly to younger generations. The gastronomic meal strengthens family and friendship bonds and, more generally, reinforces social ties.
EDUCATION
TRAINING PROGRAMS
Our foundation also supports other programs, particularly the 'Cuisine, mode d'emploi(s)' foundation by Thierry Marx, which offers training in the restaurant industry; as well as the Emeraude Solidaire Fund, which trains 'Joyful Team Members.' Café Joyeux is a catering and coffee sales company with the mission of placing disability at the heart of our cities and our lives. We are proud of these collaborations that strengthen our commitment to the transmission of knowledge, the training of young people, and social inclusion.
